Love Letters in Philly!

15 September 2009
Saturday night was a great experience viewing 50 rooftop murals from 45th to 63 streets along the Market Street corridor in Philadephia via the "L" subway line.  The murals collectively express a love letter from a guy to a girl, from an artist to his hometown, and from local residents to their West Philadelphia neighborhood.  Once again the arts bring a city together on so many levels - a dreary, monotonous train ride turned into a glimpse of glimmers : )

Garden Delight

10 August 2009
I  recently returned from a week at the beach plus some time in Philly.  Reading "Loving Frank" (about Frank Lloyd Wright)  a book by Joseph Campbell - walking the beach, seeing art and architecture rejuvenated me psyching me up for my next body of work.  Tomorrow I go to Philly again to tour the murals with Jane Golden - executive director of the Mural Arts Program and Bill Harral.  My garden delighted me to this unbelievable display of mixed greens, swiss chard, bok choy and some cucumbers.  Haven't had to water but once this summer!!

Teaching at Arts Alive in Scranton!

10 July 2009
The past week has been awesome teaching high school kids from various Scranton schools at Arts Alive.  This is an incredible program of various art disciplines (photography, mixed media, and performing arts) which meet five hours a day five days a week at different venues in Scranton.  We all have the same theme which is CINEMA this year.  On July 31 at 7pm there will be a performance at the Scranton Culural Center (which is the venue where I teach painting with professional artist Earl Lehman) and will also showcase the paintings of the 16 great kids - there will also be a huge screen showing their images.
It's a wonderful opportunity and experience for all involved.

Third Friday - Kingston

27 December 2007

Yes - this is third Friday - or as most of you will know me as - “and more”. To my surprise, the paper’s ad for December’s third Friday listed only two or three participants and I was included in the “and more” section. So all of you without the luxury of a crystal ball - well - you probably didn’t know “I” was the and more!! But thanks to all the many friends and family who did come by and view my new work, have wine, cheese and eggnog. Here are a few pics from the night!

New Work

03 January 2008

Here’s some things i’m working on in the studio - getting back into drawing which tends to lead to my paintings.

Also a great quote by Einstein reflects how I feel about my paintings. Looking forward to seeing the Klimp movie which I read is out on dvd.

This is all new for me - so bear with me…..

Mural in kids room

19 January 2008

My sister and brother-in-law moved to a new (old) house and aunt Leigh (that’s me) was called upon to do their rooms.  Olivia got flying pigs and Stella got the rain forest.

Next week I’ll do Walking Egyptians on the wall going up the steps -  cool stuff.
