As appreciation to Joe Amato and Andrea Donten for hosting the United Way fundraising event in September, I've been commissioned to make a scarf for Andrea. A different Andrea suggested I twist the two scarves together to make a cool belt which is shown above..
Twins Dawn and Donna gave their mom a special birthday surprise by taking her for the day. The neat thing Trish didn't know where she was going and lucky for me... the first stop was a two hour art fest where they worked on collage pieces. Afterwards they were taking her to see Eat, Pray, Love and then probably after seeing that movie a feast of Italian food!
Dawn recently had a book published I Know When to Stay Quiet due in October. Donna did the photogragh for the book cover. Needless to say, Trish is one proud Mom. : )
There's something about white and light color flowers against the blue summer sky that always inspires me to paint on charmeuse silk - 'the Cadillac of silks'.
Earl and I are teaching painting at Arts Alive for the month of July. We have 16 high school students who are working very hard gearing up for an big gallery show at the Scranton Cultural Center July 30 starting at 5:30 followed by a performance.
My niece came over and took this shot of me working in the studio - she's 6 ft - hence the 'birds eye view'. I delivered the works to Art Works today - First Friday in Scranton is going to be rockin' as Nikki Moser has a great exhibition at AFA. It'll be a great night to get out and about and see some ART!! The North Branch Land Trust saluted Linda Thoma by giving her a certificate to have a painting done by me to her liking.
I met with Linda several months ago in her beautiful remodeled home and she gave me some words that would describe what she wanted created. The words were - enchanting, mystical, fairies, and woods. Today she came with her co-worker Barb to pick up her piece and they were both moved to tears which consequently got me a little dewed up. : ) Read moreComments (1)
I'm done teaching at Keystone, have finished the mural art training program in Philly as well as commissions and a WB mural. This is what's in front of me in the studio - about 10 'fresh clean slates' for some upcoming shows as well as a commission or two. Read moreComments (1)
One week from today is the opening for the Mural arts Training Program which is in Philadelphia at the Mural Arts Program headquarters which also happens to have been Thomas Eakins house!
My design depicts the nine 'wolf rules' from "Women Who Run with Wolves" by Clarissa Pinkola Estes. The rules are eat, rest, rove in between, render loyalty, love the children, cavil in moonlight, attend to the bones, make love and howl often. The section depicted for the show is 'cavil in moonlight'. Read moreComments (1)
